Agitators
Sidewall agitators generally suffer from excessive shaft runout due to long shaft cantilever designs with high weight rotors at the very end. Gravity is in effect as well, with many shafts sitting low in the stuffing box.
PackRyt®’s solve both of these problems. If the shaft is sitting low ,totally within the existing stuffing box a PackRyt® bearing (BLR) is installed first ,after slightly loosening the outer bearing supports. Due to the extremely close clearances of the bearing, the shaft is thus virtually centered in the box and the outer bearing caps are shimmed and locked down. This is a one-time operation. The sealing rings are then added and snugged down.
As the closest member to the tank, the stuffing box houses the PackRyt® bearing which removes existing shaft runout within the entire sealing area.
As a centered and supported shaft, with patented SealRyt® packing, a sidewall agitator can be expected to run for years of trouble-free operation.
